Our company was founded by two enterprising Armenian immigrants who settled in the little town of Cashmere, located in the heart of the Washington State orchard country. In 1920 they created Aplets, made with apples and walnuts grown in local orchards. That original idea has expanded to the full line of fruit-and-nut candies and fine food gifts that you'll find at LibertyOrchards.com. We offer unique and delicious sweets, excellent personalized service, and good value. Back in 1920 when we started making our delicious homestyle candies, it wasn't so unusual to take the time to do things right. So when our founders started experimenting with ways to use the fruit they grew at Liberty Orchards in their old country candy recipe, they naturally did things the Homestyle way. What is unusual, is that now, over 90 years later, we still make our candies by the same time honored methods, using the same secret family recipe. The ingredients used in our candies are wholesome and traditional. We use natural fruit purées and juices, created from the ripest, most flavorful fruits for orchard-grown goodness in every bite. These fruits of the orchard are blended with apple pectin, pure sugar, and other natural, preservative-free ingredients, then slow-simmered in special candymaking kettles. We make our candy in small batches, and test the recipe every few minutes as the candy cooks. When the consistency is just right, we add fresh crunchy nuts, hand-sorted for exceptional quality.
