Leon Sweet started the company back in the late 1800s and the company has stayed in the family for 120 years. Sweet Candy Company makes taffy, cinnamon bears, orange sticks, chocolates, candy sours, sugar free candy, and a variety of items made at one of the final remaining general candy makers in the world. Most candy making has gone overseas where there is cheap labor and low quality sugars, which leaves the possibility for problems. Candies made overseas does not always go through the same rigorous safety checks as American made goods are required to do. There is also concern with the water being used in production, it could be compromised. Sweet Candy Company is a family-owned and operated American business. New generations of the family are actively involved in daily operations. Sweet’s distributes more than 250 quality candy items nationally and internationally.
